April Elections

By Jen, 31 March, 2006, No Comment

The next presidential elections will be held in Peru on the 9th April. There are many different candidates, as always, some more popular than others. One worry among foreigners living in Peru (and Peruvians working with outside agencies – especially those from the USA) is that a candidate very similar to the current presidents in Venezuela and Bolivia will be elected. If this happens we could face a tough time living and working in Peru, and may even have to leave at some point in the future. Please pray that the Peruvians will make a good choice of president, one that will help the country to develop and move forward.

Changing Team

In recent prayer letters/ updates we have suggested that there will be some changes taking place in the team of missionaries/NIVS who work here in the Central Andean Field. Well, these changes have started to take place, with both our Jesus Film coordinator moving to a different job (he pastors a large church here in Lima) and the Child Sponsorship coordinator for Bolivia is needing some time away from her responsibilities. Both of these jobs have been taken on by Jen (with the support of other office staff) for the time that it takes to find replacement staff! These are the first in a number of changes that will be facing the team in the year to come. Please pray for those of us who remain as we try to fill in the gaps as people move on, and that God will be supplying new people (preferably nationals) who can take on these roles. Thanks!

Time with family :o)

Over the past few months we have had the pleasure of hosting all of our immediate family in Lima. Doug’s parents, brother, sister in law and niece visited us for Christmas, and Jen’s parents visited for two weeks in February to celebrate birthdays. It has been a real blessing to have our families visit. Sometimes missionary work and life is tough, and in the past few months we have been in need of a little relaxation and fun with loving family! Here are a few pictures of our times together.
